New Zealand Based Photographer who uses strong contrasts which are a direct reflection of my strong Taurus personality, this and favouring black & white and muted colour leaves the subject and their personality as the sole focus of the photo. Ever since first taking photos of my dog as a child I’ve enjoyed photography, but it wasn’t until the necessity for decent photos came about during my 14 years in the design industry I realised I had a passion for it.

Design

Running a boutique design agency with seven staff, servicing hundreds of clients ranging from small tourism operators to national magazines and co-operatives with turnovers in the hundreds of millions of dollars has given me a unique perspective on commissioned photography for design and publication purposes. Specifically this has given me an eye for what works in publications, taking photos with consideration for copy space and taking portrait and landscape options giving the client and designer’s options.

Commercial

Not afraid to get my hands dirty or travel afar I am available for commercial photo shoots, magazine photography or documentary style projects. When it comes to photographing people, I consider my interpersonal skills a key attribute in being able to interact with subjects and capture their true personality.

Art

Only since undertaking a Diploma in Painting under the vision and guidance of Artist, Heather Sarin have I started to look at composition, lights and darks and people more artfully and discovered my true photography style. My biggest passion lies in black and white photography; I feel this captures the natural energy in its purest form, with no room for colour to get in the way. I try to include strong contrasts which are a direct reflection of my strong Taurus personality; this combined with black and white, I believe leaves the subject and their personality as the sole focus of the photo.
